My Words…

My words are not usually for public consumption…

Writing has always been a large part of my life. Words are like friends, they are always there when you need them. They provide me with both company and solitude. I can be lost in writing, just allowing the words to spill from me.

There is sometimes a need to write, to get it out, to see the words physically before me in order to make sense of them. They may represent something that has preoccupied me. An idea or inspiration that has been silently turning over in my mind. I may feel a need to record something I intend to develop later. I may never return to it.

Here, in this journal, I will occasionally share some of my process with words. Not because I think it will be of interest to anyone, but because it just might.

At times when your enthusiasm is depleted, reading the musing of another may just offer a little moment of thoughtfulness that reignites something.

Today…right now the words are feeling playful…and there is a little mischief in me that wants to hide something here…in the belief it will never be seen by anyone. I would like that, because being so busy with your own precious life means you have no time to bother what I am doing…or writing! Much Love -x-

I love the work of the artist Tonie Rigby. Sometimes, as she paints, words come to her mind and she records them and includes them with the work when it is sold. This piece is called ‘Where Does The Art Come From’ and below are the words that accompany it

Not sure! Don’t know but I’d like to know. I love that I sit down with nothing in my mind but all that changes when I pick the brush up. Ideas start to flow. The excitement begins and the piece grows organically. It’s a landscape, it’s a figure in a landscape, it’s a mystery. I want colour. I want drips. I want brightness. I continue, still unclear. A shadow. Slowly the pieces kind of fit together to make a whole and then suddenly, but yet slowly too, my mind switches into looking at the piece as a whole. I decide then, maybe more consciously, what needs to happen to continue to nudge the whole to a ‘feeling of rightness’…….clear as mud then where the Art comes from!
